Closed to the public since May 29, the six-year renovation of the Detroit Institute of Arts is nearing completion, and I can hardly wait to check out the new and improved facility.
Feel the same way? While I can't get you in earlier than anyone else, I can point out a free, public event that will put you in the know before the museum re-opens its doors on November 23.
As part of Model D's free October Speaker Series, DIA Director-Graham W. J. Beal will speak about the museum's $156 million renovation and expansion, as well as elaborate on the museum's new "visitor-centered approach".
It all goes down from 8:30 - 10:00 am on Wednesday, October 10 at the beautiful Detroit Yacht Club on Belle Isle. The event is free, but seating is limited so sign up today.
Can't make it to see Mr. Beal, but still curious about what to expect when the DIA reopens next month? Visit the DIA's Construction page here and take a special video tour of the museum.
