Happy a safe and happy Halloween, Detroit!
I want to give a big thanks to Nettie Boivin for interviewing Girl in the D for a story in this week's edition of MiLife MiTimes.
The article, titled "The Ultimate Guide to New Media in Michigan", is about the new and highly-interactive citizen journalism outlets that have exploded across the U.S., including Michigan, in recent years. Examples include blogging, ezines and Flickr groups.

As a follow-up to a WJR interview we did back in August following this highly successful WSU event, Girl in the D is proud to have the opportunity to join fellow Movin' the D Forward panelists-Dalton Roberson Jr. and Ethriam Brammer on the Warren Pierce Show again this weekend.
Tune your radio to am 760 from 8:10 to 8:30 on Sunday, October 14 to hear why under-40-year olds like us choose to live in Detroit, and why perceptions about Detroit need to change for Michigan to succeed in retaining and wooing young talent.
Born and raised in Detroit, WSU-grad Warren Pierce has interviewed over 40,000 guests during his broadcasting career. The Warren Pierce Show can be heard on Saturday and Sunday mornings on News/Talk 760 WJR or streamed live at WJR.com.

Closed to the public since May 29, the six-year renovation of the Detroit Institute of Arts is nearing completion, and I can hardly wait to check out the new and improved facility.
Feel the same way? While I can't get you in earlier than anyone else, I can point out a free, public event that will put you in the know before the museum re-opens its doors on November 23.
As part of Model D's free October Speaker Series, DIA Director-Graham W. J. Beal will speak about the museum's $156 million renovation and expansion, as well as elaborate on the museum's new "visitor-centered approach".
It all goes down from 8:30 - 10:00 am on Wednesday, October 10 at the beautiful Detroit Yacht Club on Belle Isle. The event is free, but seating is limited so sign up today.
Can't make it to see Mr. Beal, but still curious about what to expect when the DIA reopens next month? Visit the DIA's Construction page here and take a special video tour of the museum.

The Stuber-Stone building is located at 4221 Cass in Midtown.
On Wednesday, October 10, from 5 - 9 pm, Bureau invites you to drop in for the launch party of Pop Art Monkey's new textile line. Meet the creator of the fun popartmonkey products, Carl Oxley III, and check out the newest popartmonkey pillows and coin purses. New paintings from Carl will also be available for purchase.
Can't make it to either of these events? Visit Bureau when it's convenient for you. Detroit's newest modern home goods and gift store is open Tuesday - Saturday from 11 am to 7 pm.
