Nation's largest pet adoption event this weekend at the Detroit Zoo

It may be best known for its Arctic Ring of Life, a state-of-the-art exhibit that simulates life on the North Pole, but housing the world's largest polar bear exhibit isn't the only thing on the Detroit Zoo's bragging-rights list.

There's also "Meet Your Best Friend at the Zoo" - the nation's largest off-site pet adoption program.

The semi-annual event, which seeks to place dogs, cats, birds and rabbits in the loving homes of area residents, is in its 14th year and continues to grow in popularity.

The next round of Meet Your Best Friend is this weekend, May 5 and 6, in the small parking lot of the zoo.

The event runs from 10 am - 5 pm on both days. There is no cost for admission.

Visit the Detroit Zoo or the Michigan Humane Society for more information.
